OnePlus has started rolling out the latest OxygenOS 5.1.4 stable OTA update for its 2017 flagship smartphones, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. Based on Android 8.1 Oreo, the update will be rolled out in a phased manner, and it comes just a month after the company started rolling out OxygenOS 5.1.3 update.
The update brings July 2018 security patch for both the devices, along with bug fixes and performance improvements. It also introduces a cool new battery related feature called “Sleep Standby Mode,” which is designed to reduce the battery drain when device is idle. In a forum post, OnePlus claims that the device intelligently tracks the usage pattern, and when the device is untouched, it turns off all the networks to save battery life
Right before you wake up, it will cancel all network restrictions and get out of “Sleep Standby” mode. This will ensure that you don’t end up missing out on important notifications. You can activate or deactivate this by heading over to Settings > Battery > Battery Optimizations > Advance Optimization > Sleep standby optimization.
OnePlus has also worked on the camera software to offer “improved clarity,” but it hasn’t mentioned anything beyond that. There is no word on whether or not it comes with a fix for “oil painting effect.” OnePlus also mentioned that it is working to bring selfie portrait mode from OnePlus 6 to the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. But there is no word on whether or not this is implemented.
